After attending the wedding dinner for one of my friends hold at Westin Osaka, we visited Kyoto. We selected Jakkoin and Sanzenin because Mari had not yet been there. We walked around the small and peaceful village Ohara in the northeast suburbs of Kyoto city with pushing a baby carriage. The village had not change at all since I had lived at Kyoto for a student.
We went back to Demachiyanagi station by Keifuku Line and visited Kyoto university. At Hyakumanben, I was sorry not to find some shops I knew, but I was verry happy to find Shinshindo (a bakery and coffee shop) as it had been 10 years before. In the shop, some students read, some students wrote and a few of old gentlemen talked calmly.
Speaking of the night downtown, I had been to no other places than Kiyamachi. This time, we visited Pontocho street, the next street of Kiyamachi street, for the first time. The narrow street made me feel a unique atmosphere of the old Japanese. Ichiyoken where we had dinner was a very small restaurant and had the histry and tradition.
