『自分で発音する場合は、A. C. Gimson氏が勧める「ていねいな口語体」(careful colloquial style)を使うのが望ましいようです。』と書きましたが、原典には『まず初めのうちは、』（at the beginning）とあります。
『完璧なＲＰを外国人が使うのは不適切＊と感じるイギリス人もいるので、』と書いたのは、ギムスンの『英語音声学入門』（An Introduction to the Pronuncaion of English）等を念頭において書きました。下に『英語音声学入門』（竹林滋訳）の原文と訳を引用します。
Indeed, RP can be a hanicap if used in inappropriate social situations, since it may be taken as a mark of affectaition or a desire to emphasize social superiority. 3 ed. p.90 （Gimson's Pronunciation of English 6 ed. p.79）
